Wow, March Already! I had a busy week in Tucson. About 30 people from the Tucson Project Management Group listening to a technical leadership talk; around that many in the U. of Arizona GIS graduate program hearing about future trends and I have been invited back to do a course; over 70 MIS graduate students from the Eller Business school in Tucson for a lecture on management and leadership for technical teams; and finally a full day workshop based my book. (oh and a game of golf squeezed in).

Double Oh and started a new company with Barbara Carroll of GeoGRAFX with the first project a Not Your Ordinary Web Map which we will be demonstrating in the Pitney Bowes / Encom booth at PDAC. Interesting times. (http://www.geomoonllc.com/)

In addition to excellent reviews from the recent lessons learned workshop on management and leadership, Jim Harris wrote a kind book review.  Thank you Jim.

Having worked exclusively in the technology industry since cell phones weighed 15 pounds, I can say, without a doubt, that George Moon has more insights into what it takes to be a good manager, but more importantly, a great leader. I had the great fortune to sit in on one of his seminars. I would highly recommend this book AND his seminar to ANYONE wanting to be successful in this competitive technological arena that is growing exponentially each year. Just returned from Tucson where I had a very successful Lunch and Learn and a workshop based on my book. Excellent reviews and I have been invited back so always a good sign. There were about 30 at the Lunch and Learn for the Arizona Technology Council.

Lessons Learned: Management and Leadership for a Technical World is now published in iBook form available from within iBooks or iTunes. I continue to get good reviews from those that read the book. Enjoy!

The Lessons Learned electronic version is now available from Amazon.com for the Kindle.  This is revision 2 of the book with all the links updated and live plus some minor edits.  Revision 2 is also available in ePub for through Kobo books.

This week I was appointed a Fellow of Calumet College at York University.  I am very pleased with the appointment as it is in recognition of my contributions to the college while lecturing on the Lessons Learned book.  I look forward to continuing to support Calumet College in the future.

If you run the dynamic symbol sample (DynSym) using a version of Internet Explorer 8 or earlier you will see a message about needing a more standards compliant browser.  A colleague downloaded the Internet Explorer 9 beta this week and reported the symbols display correctly.  This is as expected and it will allow a wider deployment of the symbol technique.
